2 month check up

I took Emma to her two month check up today, with Jesse. (Never leave the house with two similar aged babies that aren't both yours. Everyone will ask if they are twins.) She was really good while we were there, actually, she has been really good all day today.

Here are her numbers: her head is 15.25 inches, 47.75%tile, length is 23.5 inches, 87.91%tile, and her weight is 11lb 13oz, 78.3%tile. She also got all her shots and really did well. I gave her some Tylenol before we left home, and though she cried when they stabbed her legs, she went to sleep on the way home and has been out for an hour now.

The more disappointing news is that I am sick. And because Em is with me constantly, she is also sick. Right now it is just a stuffy/runny nose, but she has a little fluid in her left ear that could turn into an ear infection, so I have to watch that. I bought some saline on the way home that should help clear out her little nose.

She is still sleeping well, but waking around three to eat this week (I think because she is sick.) She is starting to be a happier baby, and smiles and coos fairly often. She can find her hand to suck on now, but still wont drink from a bottle. (She did the best last night and didn't cry as soon as it touched her lips, and even sucked a few times, but she still doesn't like it.)

I guess overall things are going really well, I just wish Jason could spend a little more time with her, and that we weren't both sick. (I am miserable sick, I hope she doesn't feel as bad as I do.)

bragging and begging

I have to tell someone other than Jason (who doesnt care, because he sleeps either way) about how Emma has been sleeping. The last four nights, she slept 7 1/2, 7 1/2, 9 1/2, and 9 hours last night. I am SO proud of her. She falls asleep around 930 to 1030 after eating, and usually wakes for a minute or two after I lay her down, then goes right back to sleep and I dont hear her again for hours! I dont know if it will last, but she is sleeping SO well this week.

Now, for the question portion of todays blog...
I got Emma to drink from a bottle the very first try a week or two ago, and I havent been able to get her to do it again since then. Also, I cant get her to take a pacifier. If shes in a pretty good mood, she will chew it if I hold it in her mouth, but it will fall out as soon as I let go, and she wont suck it.
Any ideas on how I can get her to take these things?

pretty in pink

Emma and I got dressed up this morning. She wore her black dress with hot pink polka dots and pink legging, and I wore REAL jeans and a REAL shirt, and we went out to the M for coffee. It was our first pointless outing and it went really well. The Flying M has great spiced apple cider right now, it is so good. I read for half hour or so and Emma only got fussy when she got the hiccups. We saw Russ there too- my favorite Moxie customer that works at Dan Weibold Ford. Ive run into him there a few times, but this time he got to meet Emma!

So, an hour out of the house, for no reason at all, and it went really well.
My six week check is tomorrow, everything should be good. Life is settling back to normal! :)

small steps

Emma slept through the night. It was Tuesday the 6th, the evening had been a little rougher than usual (she has learned to cry to keep herself awake at night and we just have to get through it every night) but she slept until 6am! It was wonderful. Her average is about five hours at night, waking between 3 and 5am.

Days are starting to get on a schedule, naps and nursing and housework and playtime are all fitting in on most days. She will be six weeks old on Sunday, and my six week check up is Tuesday. I am so ready to start working out. I have been making trips up and down the stairs carrying boxes, and walking little laps around my house tidying up. I long to go for a nice achy breathtaking run. I don't think I would get very far, but it would feel so nice.

So things are going well. We are all adjusting to being back home and without company and Jason's back to working a regular schedule. All this just in time for Katie to come visit on the 22nd for the weekend and Andie is coming over Valentines day weekend, them Mom will be back for spring break for a week in March. One month later Jason and I leave for Australia!

Last, I leave you with a picture. Most of you have seen this and I don't care I think it's cute. :)
